Terrible experience. When I asked what was on tap, I was given a list of soft drinks. Every question regarding spirits resulted in the waiter going to ask the bar tender. In the end I just ordered water as I knew it was going to be a pain. We ordered and since it was kids night the balloon pirate did a great job and my kids really enjoyed the personal attention. The salad came out out first about 45 min after we ordered. Then as I was getting ready to leave b/c I was hungry the other meals came out about an hour after we ordered, which was strange as the place was dead apart from a few drunks playing slots. One of my dishes arrived without one of the ordered sides and they only decided to bring my daughters milk at the end of the meal after we asked for it. My wife had a gin and tonic and must have just been tonic water. I talked to the manager who was very nice and discounted the check but should have done a lot more. We will NOT be back. The owners must also own rod and reel as they have the same kind of service. All of this is attached to a resort. I feel sorry for any hungry guests. I would give negative stars if I could.

Not a fan. I can get better food from Safeway.

The good: fried chicken was crispy, moist, and fresh, albeit a little too salty, and the crab cake was good. The bad: the sides were pretty awful. String beans from a can, mac & cheese made with Velveeta, cole slaw was way too sweet. The salad was good, and made with fresh ingredients, but, oddly, not tossed -every ingredient was piled into the dish separately. Service was OK. The outdoor deck is also a passageway among several businesses and not pleasant to eat dinner on.

Great Breakfast and mimosa with a waterfront view. Great night life including DJ's, Karaoke, Games, and Slots

Not worth the time. The restaurant was only partially filled on the summer Friday afternoon we visited. The grill appears to be owned by the same company that operates the Rod and Reel next door. The grill, however, is a more casual experience. It incorporates none of the standards seen next door; its food is without flavor and arrives late. The service was lacking, as well; it took a while for beverage refills. The restaurant also had slot machines in it which kind of cheapened the restaurant. For being on the water, I expected a more enjoyable experience.

So s.l.ow. Waited 30 minutes for pancakes and eggs. The food was serviceable, but not worth the long wait. Breakfast should not make you sad.

Took a little bit of time for our food to be served but it was worth it. Buffalo Chicken and Monterey Chicken sandwiches are very good.

This place is awful. The service is fairly bad, the food all tastes like it came out of a can and the place itself is pretty dirty. There also always seems to be a lingering smell - something almost wet and moldy. I would skip Smokey Joe's.

My family and I were at Chesapeake Beach Water Park and wanted something besides the hot dogs and cheese pizza offered at the park so we ventured out and tried this place. OMG!!!! Now wonder it was empty a little after 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. They have a lot of slot machines....... maybe we should have taken a que from all the slot machines and lack of people in the place. Here's the synopsis of the food. One of my boys ordered a grilled cheese sandwich off he kids menu, OMG can one say Velveeta? Why do restaurants insist on using this disgusting chemical crap based ingredient? Anyway he didn't like it much. My other son ordered a hamburger which I guess was okay as he ate the whole thing. I ordered a chicken breast sandwich and it was blech, seemed like it was cooked in the microwave, and the fries were cold. Oh Chef Ramsey would have a field day here! My husband ordered a pulled pork sandwich which didn't look good but he was hungry and ate it. We left there as quickly as possible and without turning back. We will not be back.

Not as bad as the reviews make this out to be. Just think dinner in a small town. Service was good the strip steak was as well. Price was average. Kid friendly

6-18-o9 about 9ish Susan was the Bartender manager she is professional & charming in a nice way. I had the Seafood Bucket Dinner special 3 large pieces of Cod,6 beer battered shrimp & fries. It was good and way 2 much for me to eat -only $11.99. Yeah, i know i should have had a salad with this . My friend had chicken tenders =he said they were good. I do miss the Shrimp kebabs over rice. They have been discontinued. Of course I had a few beers-Yeingling-sp ? they were cold & served in a nice glass.

I'll give them a two-star rating simply because I try to see the good in places. I did come pretty late in the day but still they messed up my husband's sandwich, and my kid's menu grilled cheese ( weren't many vegetarian option). The fries were even cold and you could tell they've been sitting. Not pleasant any of the times I've tried it.

My family and I cam here after a long afternoon at the Chesapeake Beach Water Park (which was tons of fun may I add) and we were extremely hungry and wanted something good to end the day with. Now I will say this; this place is not a looker but usually these types of places has some of the best FOOD. My only complaint is how long it took for the food to come out; we sat down around 6pm and did not get our food until around 7pm. Now I know most people would have def got up and left but we waited it out with complimentary corn muffins and my appetizer a blooming onion. When the food finally did arrive it was pretty good; I had the buffalo wings which were really good and the side salad which looked as if it could be a meal which was a plus because I love salad but overall it was a delicious food experience. My family was happy as with their food as well; but then again after being in the water all day anything would probably be good really. (lol) I would def recommend this place if anyone just wanted to grab a good simple meal and play slots at the same time.

I have eaten here often and the Breakfast is the best meal they offer -Fisherman Special is the best. The place sits in the parking lot of the Rod and Reel Hotel. its on the water so has a nice view of the dock. Lunch and dinner is OK they puch the Fried Chicken its OK not enough seasoning for me. Alot of comfort food and seafood, nothing special. Nevertheless, honestly it is the best restaurant Chesapeake Beach has to offer. That's sad to say. Service is good; people our friendly and its fine for kids. If you're in Chesapeake Beach and your hungry I would recommend it.

Feel like going out to dinner at Smokey Joe's in Chesapeake Beach? Do yourself a favor. Go to the local gas station, nuke a burrito for everyone in your party, back over said burritos with your car, scrap the carnage onto a plate, eat and enjoy. You've just had a better experience, with better food, than you would have if you wen to Smokey Joe's. Saturday night (5-15-10), we went with a party of ten. Plenty of empty tables (should have been a sign). The steak and blue cheese salad ($15), buys you a few pieces of meat on some chopped iceberg. Expect blue cheese with that? Don't. The pork sandwich sound good? Then think of a thin, stale bun with some dried out pork thrown around it. I could go on. But do I need to? I'm sorry if this review gives a bad name to good gas station burritos.

Got a Cobb Salad yesterday, it's ok. Cobb Salad: Chicken breast, bacon (can there ever be enough bacon?), one hard boiled egg sliced into 4 wedges, lettuce, cherry tomatoes (halved), diced avocado, and Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing. I have only a few complains such as the ratio between the salad and the dressing. The portion of the salad is small compare to how much salad dressing they gave me. Oh yeah, the water does not taste right. On a bright side, it was not crowded to the point that we have to wait for a table on Mother's day.

This review is for breakfast as this is all I've had here. Husband and I both thought the restaurant was dirty... Spider hanging over our table, piece of lettuce at the bottom of my coffee mug. Breakfast was mediocre at best.

The location is great for business, but whoever owns this joint does not know what the hell they are doing. The service is amazing, everyone was over the top nice. As soon as we were in the dining area it smelled like dirty water as if who ever mopped the floors did not bother changing the water. The food tasted as though it was tv dinner. I ended up leaving to eat somewhere else. Someone needs to buy them out and revamp the whole damn place.

This grill is nothing special. Despite it being on the grounds of a marina, the view is of the channel-and the condos across the way. The food wasn't bad, but wasn't great. I was happy none of it appeared to be from frozen, but it was also pretty run of the mill. The menu was limited, and the service nothing special either. When we got there, two nearby tables needed to be cleared and we had ordered, eaten our appetizer, and were onto our entrees before they were. It was also a cool evening, but they still had the a/c pumping. For just a grill, I would at least go somewhere with a view if you're going to be on the water.

Best burgers we've had in a very long time. We did not eat-in, it was carryout. Not a single complaint from any of us (and our family frequents Fogo and other fine restaurants) and no leftovers!
